Jon has been involved with St. Paul Public Schools for 23 years as a parent, site council leader, mentor, advocate and tutor.
As Executive Director of a local community foundation for the past 15 years, he has helped to create and fund programs designed to support public school students in science and the arts.
He is particularly proud of his work on Murray Middle School’s e2 class, which offers 8th grade students from high poverty backgrounds the chance to accelerate to a pre-AP high school biology path. This innovative and academically rigorous environmental science experience includes several research trips to the Wolfridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota, a partner in this program.
Jon has also worked with for- and non-profit organizations across the Twin Cities over the course of his 30 years as a writer, producer and performer of corporate communications and media. These experiences and his years as a foundation executive have given him the chance to build valuable relationships with many city leaders and elected officials.
Jon and his wife of 32 years, Mary, have two daughters who greatly benefited from their education in our St. Paul Public Schools. He is a passionate supporter of our students, parents, teachers and all members of our school community who play such an important role in the future success of our kids.
